99 Ways To Market Your Tennis Programme – Part 1

Capturing & Storing Information

This first one isn’t actually a way to market your tennis programme. More like preparation. Later on we’ll be talking about emails, text Tennis Coach Web Sitemessages and other things which require you to have all the right information for people who come into your programme or club.

So it’s vital that you get the right information from people right at the beginning. The information you need is:

  • Parent name (for juniors)
  • Student name
  • Student d.o.b. (juniors only)
  • School attended (juniors only)
  • Address
  • Home phone
  • Mobile phone
  • Email
  • Any medical issues or other information which you think we should be aware of?
  • Member / non-member
  • Permission for photos

You may think of other information which you need.

And the easiest way to collect this information? Just give them a simple form to fill in when you first see them. And to make things easy for you, here is a simple word document which you can download. Just right click on the word ‘here’ and save the file.

You could also collect this info by email – have a template so you don’t have to write everything out each time – or if you take online bookings, you can collect the info that way.

Finally, you want to collect the contact details of people who visit your web site, so they don’t just look around, leave and then you don’t hear from them again. The best way to do this is with a contact form. It could be offering them a free session, subscribing to a newsletter, free tips – some kind of value which will make them want to hear from you. I have such a form top right of this web site. Here it is again – why not fill it in now so I can send you tips and free stuff.

These forms are created using your email service (Mailchimp / Aweber.) It’s very easy to create the form and they give you a little bit of code to paste into your web site. I won’t go into more detail here, but contact me if you’d like help on it.

Storing the information

If your programme is big, you’ll want to start using a proper database or software. I use tennisbiz. But if you don’t have that kind of software, you can just use an excel spreadsheet. The good thing about excel is that if you go on to use other software to store the info, you’ll be able to import it straight from your excel spreadsheet. I’ve created a very simple spreadsheet for you – it has a page for storing client details and another page for storing coach details. Download it by right clicking here and ‘save as’.
